Shining a spotlight on the Inflammatory Breast Cancer UK Charity

The Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is an award given by the Queen to an individual for outstanding service to the community or local ‘hands on’ service.

Lynette was awarded this award for raising awareness of Inflammatory breast cancer and fundraising for IBC research, these were a few of her words for us here:

“Well it’s the eve of my Buckingham Palace visit to get my award for Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for fundraising and raising awareness of IBC. Just to let you all know that I will be accepting this on behalf of all you ladies and the ladies who have gained their wings . I have had a turmoil 3 years however I couldn’t have got through it without you all beside me. Especially to Caroline who provides all of us with so much love and support and practical informed advice, Angela Alexander too.

Each one of us who have raised awareness in our own counties, countries all deserve recognition for their dedication to ensure women know about IBC. You will all be in my pocket tomorrow when I receive the award and I’ll be thinking of you all as well as those no longer here especially Julie Strelley Jones who was such support to me when I was dx with brain mets.”

Founder of our sister charity, Caroline Ballinger was honored to be nominated for both the Pride of Stratford and Carer of the Year award for her volunteer for work at The Inflammatory Breast Cancer Network U.K. We are so please to share she won the Pride of Stratford award!
